Operations Director

Steve has a thirst for knowledge. On leaving school, he chose to pursue a career in an industry that is perpetually changing and consequently one where continued professional development is essential. Joining the company as a Trainee Surveyor, Steve’s career path progressed through project management to his current role as Operations Director with overall control of the Contracts Department. This requires oversight of seven contract teams who manage up to 20 sites at any one time, involving approximately sixty staff and up to 350 subcontractors per day. Additionally, he is also responsible for health & safety.

The dynamic nature of the work and the drive to overcome challenges are Steve’s motivations. Coupled with these are the intricacies of negotiations throughout a project, operational and commercial aspects and future technological developments such as BIM, which he believes will have a far-reaching impact on the operational and commercial aspects of the industry.

Qualifications supporting Steve’s career progression are a BSc in Quantity Surveying, MCIOB and MCMI together with other industry standard personal development courses from providers including IOSH and CITB.

As someone who has gone from trainee to Director, Steve exemplifies the quality of our personal development programmes and our ability to nurture and retain talent. He has taken the lead on many of our major projects, each time pushing the ambition of the company to deliver increasingly complex schemes from both a technical and magnitude position.
