Tom has more than 25 years' experience in the construction industry. Initially starting work in finance, he quickly realised that being part of something practical and creative was more satisfying so he took up a City & Guilds carpentry and joinery apprenticeship. However, an opportunity to move into procurement arose and tempted him into a busy and dynamic supply role.
Initially based with a builders' merchant, Tom moved into a purely buying capacity with a construction company and achieved accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Foundation. He believes one of the strengths of the construction industry is the way we talk and interact - in a straight and matter of fact way, resulting in the ability to simplify complex processes quickly.
Since joining Kind & Company as Senior Technical Buyer, Tom has found the role stimulating and more involving where there are opportunities to learn, influence product choice and keep abreast of new technologies and developments. There is also the satisfaction of determining logistics, knowing the impact they can have on the successful delivery of the final scheme.
Tom played football to a reasonable standard in his youth and has subsequently been involved in youth coaching.
