Hoe Street Official Opening

We were thrilled to join Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) on site this week to mark the opening of two residential blocks, which we recently completed for our client. The new flats, which are located in the heart of Walthamstow east London provide an additional 54 homes in the borough, and in one of the blocks the ground floor commercial unit has been transformed into a pre-school facility, offering nursery places to families in the area.

Visiting one of the developments for a tour of our quality built mixed tenure homes was Councillor Ahsan Khan (Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration at Waltham Forest Council). Cllr Khan was proud to confirm his personal links with the borough, and at the official ribbon cutting he commented: ‘I’m pleased we are working with local developers like Kind & Co, along with ISHA to create this wonderful new scheme with a strong affordable and shared ownership element that prioritises Waltham Forest residents’.

Waltham Forest Council played a pivotal role in ensuring the homes could be delivered, assisting with funding to ensure that together with ISHA the development could be realised. Chief Executive Officer for ISHA Ruth Davidson acknowledged this in her opening speech at the event saying: ‘These beautiful homes show what can be achieved when small community housing associations work with the council.  We dug deep to deliver these 54 homes…at a time of huge financial pressure and Waltham Forest contributed funds too…we’re so proud to be on Hoe Street and part of this community. It is what ISHA are all Following Ruth’s words was our Pre-Construction Director Gerry Lennon, who was heavily involved with ensuring this scheme achieved its full potential, right from an early stage in the delivery of the project. Gerry, who was born and raised in Waltham Forest himself recalled the underused commercial garage and petrol station that had once occupied these sites, and he said how pleased he was to see the sites transformed to provide new homes for local residents.  He said ‘We are delighted to have worked with our longstanding client ISHA on this scheme. This project is located our own home borough, with our head office based just down the road in Leytonstone. As a company we employ locally and now have approximately 106 employees, some of whom to are born and raised in the borough too, so it is great to be involved with this local scheme, bringing quality homes to this busy local community’.
