Joint MD Tony Battle (MCIOB) announces intentions to retire
Published 20 February 2023
Today our Joint Managing Director Tony Battle announces his intention to retire at the end of June after 34 years of dedicated service to Kind & Company.
Following his announcement, which was communicated to his colleagues and peers he commented:
’After 34 fantastic years at Kind & Co (during which there has never been a dull moment)….I have decided to retire… I have met and worked with some wonderful people over my 34 years, far too many to mention. I will be ever grateful for your support, guidance and so often inspiration’.
Tony joined us in 1989 as a Surveyor and over the years has contributed towards the delivery of many successful Kind & Co projects as Surveyor and later Projects Manager. In 2001 Tony joined the Board of Directors and five years later took the position of Joint Managing Director.
Under his leadership as Joint MD, Tony has been responsible for significantly raising our company's profile over the last few decades and with a particular passion for collaboration. Tony was inspired to become an NHBC expert Panel member in 2019 and he has also actively been a member of organisations such as the Housing Forum to offer his 30 plus years’ experience and advice to contribute toward positive change within our industry.
In 2020 along with fellow Joint MD Bill Bassenger, Tony was delighted to announce to our employees that our company had transitioned to an EOT (Employee Owned Trust) and since its formation the board have been committed to a profitable growth strategy whilst developing a structure for the future of Kind & Company.
Therefore effective from the 1st July 2023 our long-serving Director of Operations Steve Juson will move into the role of Managing Director and Pre-Construction Director Gerry Lennon will join the Board of Directors to support our strategy for continued profitable growth.
To compliment these appointments and reinforce our growth aspirations our current Joint MD Bill Bassenger’s position in the business will convert to Chief Executive Officer.
Between now and the end of June Tony is looking forward to continuing to work with our clients collaboratively. As he bids farewell to those he has worked with throughout his career, he also welcomes the opportunity to catch up with clients, peers and industry friends to celebrate his time in the industry and his departure. Tony said:
‘As many will testify, I’m never short of a few words so please do keep in contact – I am keeping my number 07970 270634’.
We are sure many of you will congratulate Tony for his contribution to our industry over the last three decades; and that you will wish him the best of luck in his retirement along with all his colleagues here at Kind & Co.
We will bring more updates on Tony’s departure between now and his retirement at the end of June.
