Margaret Thatcher Infirmary Completion!

Margaret Thatcher Infirmary Completion! image

Last week our site team at the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary were delighted to attend a completion celebration with our client Royal Hospital Chelsea and resident Chelsea Pensioners themselves, as we marked the handover of the phased refurbishment of the building.

We hosted a coffee morning with the Chelsea Pensioners and put on a ‘free raffle’ to thank them for their patience, as the work progressed around them during the refurbishment.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Nicky Mott, Director of Estates, Facilities & Quarter Master at the Royal Hospital Chelsea opened the celebrations with a few words of thanks, praising our quality workmanship, our respect for the building, the Pensioners and staff who continued to live and work in the facility throughout the works.

Our Pre-Construction Director Gerry Lennon was delighted with this praise and followed suit with a few words of thanks to both the estates team and, importantly, the Pensioners.

He then followed on to say:

“Myself and the projects team are delighted to mark the completion of the phased refurbishment to the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary here at the Royal Hospital Chelsea today. A prestigious and impressive estate steeped in history. We are pleased to play our part in the history of this estate ourselves, having previously delivered the Prince of Wales Yard and now, of course, the Infirmary. I am sure our site team will agree that it has once again been a pleasure to work here on the delivery of this scheme, with the estates team, the staff and, of course, the all-important Chelsea Pensioners who call this estate home. We hope you are pleased with the transformation of the block and that you can enjoy the facility for many years to come.”

The extensive refurbishment of this healthcare facility, located in the vast grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, consisted of a full upgrade to all floors within the infirmary, including improvement works to the medical facilities within the block – communal areas, nurse’s hubs, dining and lounge suites. As well as this, we have fully refurbished the ward rooms and ensuite accommodation to all floors including the existing dementia care wards.

The work comprised of a high-spec delivery throughout as mood lighting, soft furnishings and other finishes were considered to ensure the comfort to both the residents and operational staff in the Infirmary.

We are delighted to have delivered yet another successful project at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and look forward to maintaining a positive relationship with our valued client of many years.
